What causes knee pain?

One of the most common causes of knee pain is the wearing down of the joints cartilage lining. Without cartilage there is no shock absorption, which causes stress on the bones.

The bones begin to rub against each other, causing significant pain and swelling. Most commonly this action is caused by the condition osteoarthritis. Trauma, infection and direct blows to the knee can also contribute to osteoarthritis and knee pain.
